Crucified wire worms

During one of the many sweepings of the kitchen floor today, a dead wire worm made it to the dust pile.  Hannah was fascinated.

“Is that a worm?  Is that a worm? What’s the worm doing?”

I informed her that the worm was dead.

“How did the worm die?” (she over-speaks in complete sentences) “Did the worm die on the cross like Jesus?”

How does one explain that death by crucifixion is not a common way for wire worms to die?
