Hitting the Mark, Part 2

I should have known, yesterday morning, when I gave Eli a tall glass of hot chocolate and he added to it several more cups of water, that this much liquid in his system at once would need to all come out at once.  I should have remembered that his brain does not always register his need to pee until it is almost too late, so I should watch him carefully and remind him frequently.

I happened to be in the bathroom when the incident occurred.  I heard the sound of dashing feet, the soft *wumpf* of him hitting the wall because he was running to fast to steer his body properly, then the exclamations: “Oh dear.  Oh dear.  Oh dear.  Oh dear!”  I turned to watch.

Eli rocketed into the bathroom, yanked down his pants, then stood next to the toilet, paralyzed with indecision.  Should he stand up to pee or sit down?  Which would be faster?  Meanwhile, his body had already made the decision to release his bladder.  He swiveled in place, an explosion of urine shooting over his clothes, the light switch, my clothes, and the floor.  I jerked him onto the toilet and pointed things in the right direction.

We found out that he takes a little longer than most to process information, but must it show up in my life like this?!
